Dunbar senior stars Kiara Desamours and Keri Jewett have done everything on the floor together, from winning a state title as freshmen to suffering the agony of a state title game loss just last March.

In the past week, they also made their college choices together.

Days after 5-foot-6 point guard Jewett gave her verbal commitment to Southern Mississippi, 5-9 wing Desamours chose Lamar University in Texas over four other D-I scholarship offers, including FGCU.

“I’m excited about it,” said Desamours, who made her only official visit, to Lamar, two weeks ago and committed on Sunday. “I just got that feeling, like it was home and where I really wanted to be for the next four years. I loved everything about it.”

Desamours, The News-Press All-Area Girls Basketball Player of the Year as a freshman, said she also had scholarship offers from FAU, Seton Hall and College of Charleston.
