Lincoln High School introduced Matt Anderson as new head coach of the Trojans on Wednesday. Anderson has coached in Florida over two decades, and has won seven high school State Championships.
Anderson comes to Tallahassee from Marianna High School, where he led the Bulldogs to a 5A State Final Four appearance.
He said the decision to leave Marianna was a tough one, but the possibilities at Lincoln were just too promising to turn down.
“I think it’s one of the premiere schools in not only this part of the state, but the entire state,” he said at an introductory press conference. “I think we can be a regular visitor to Lakeland, not that that comes easy, it doesn’t. I think to put Lincoln at a spot way high, an elite school in the basketball arena, then I think it’s a very doable situation and that’s why I came.”
Anderson said his first official day with Lincoln is the first day of school, but said he will be with the Trojans several times throughout the summer for open gym.
